Shawn Iverson began insurance in 1993 while attending USU.  Upon graduating in finance, he decided to continue his career by educating clients about insurance rather than “selling” insurance.  In 2003, Shawn wrote his first alarm dealer and immediately fell in love with the security industry.  Since then, The Insurance Center has a department devoted to the alarm/security/fire/PERS/ industry.  Shawn’s passion, energy and knowledge of insurance in this industry, has provided speaking opportunities all across the nation.  Although some feel insurance to be a mundane topic, you will not want to Shawn’s class.   


David Berman is a seasoned professional with over three decades of experience in the security industry. During his career he has worn multiple hats, each contributing to his comprehensive understanding of the security industry.

David started as a security technician in 1993. Recognizing the importance of effective communication, David transitioned into sales. As a sales representative, he honed his ability to connect with clients, understand their needs, and tailor security solutions accordingly. His knack for building relationships became a cornerstone of his success.

In 2001, David and his wife, Ericka Berman, took a bold step—they founded their own alarm company. For a decade, they navigated the challenges of entrepreneurship, from business development to customer retention. Their commitment to quality service and personalized solutions set them apart.

David’s curiosity and love for the security industry led him to explore the manufacturing side of the industry. As a manufacturer representative, he has and continues to assist alarm company owners, sales teams, and technicians be successful.

David’s passion extends beyond business. He believes in educating others through knowledge that will help the security industry stay strong and healthy and create career opportunities for the next generation.

  Michelle Chesnut is a visionary leader known for her strategic use of technology to propel builder businesses to new heights.  With her extensive experience in marketing and a keen understanding of the construction industry, Michelle has pioneered innovative solutions that streamline operations, enhance productivity, and drive growth. With over 25 years of experience in the security industry, Corey Green has established himself as a trusted leader. As a business owner, he has honed his expertise in security services and SAAS, successfully building a client base of over 2800 alarm clients.

Corey is deeply committed to leveraging technological advancements to increase efficiency. He believes in the power of teamwork and collaboration to achieve mutual goals. Through his collaborative leadership approach, Corey has made invaluable contributions to multiple teams in the security space, consistently exceeding objectives.

Eva Sizelove, the Apprenticeship Director for the Area 1 Limited Energy program, has over 23 years of experience in the industry. Her dedication to helping individuals in the Limited Energy field launch their careers and achieve their full potential is unparalleled. Eva is passionate about supporting the next generation of skilled professionals in the Limited Energy electrical field, from mentoring apprentices to assisting registered contractors. Her efforts have led to the licensing of over 2500 Limited Energy Technician Class A and Class B licenses in Oregon since 2001. Eva is known for her commitment to promoting Apprenticeship and being a resource for the Limited Energy Industry from Contractors to Apprentices. With her wealth of experience and commitment to the industry, Eva is a valuable asset to the IEC of Oregon team and Limited Energy industry.

The NWAFAA is a chapter of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association serving the Pacific Northwest. This organization brings together Engineers, AHJ's, Vendors, Installers, Manufacturers and End Users in the fire alarm industry to further the industry.
